Purpose

Undergraduate research

Treatment

Design a poster that that represents the research I had conducted on the implications of water contamination

Date

May, 2018

Description

The purpose of the research was analyze the social, health, and economic impacts of water contamination throughout the United States. This was achieved through studying past literature and the Flint, Michigan incident then conducting analyses based on current social and economic data pulled from census data. Pollution data provided by the EPA's 2016 Toxic Release Inventory was analyzed in conjunction with median household income and minority population information through ArcGIS Pro's hot spot tool. The results came in the form of the two maps above, which disprove the notion from past studies indicating that the issue is both economic and social. In reality today though, it is more social than economic.
